On September 4th, 2016, the new owners of the speedway announced that it would be reopening at a later date in time. The track has been completely repaved, and several upgrades have been made to the facility. Once the track is reopened, it will continue being used as a race track for cars and motorcycles.

Indiana Sportsdrome Speedway was an asphalt oval racetrack located in Clarksville, Indiana. How It Started

Sportsdrome Speedway was built in 1959 by Ernie Triplett, and it has been open since 1965. The track hosted several different series' such as the USAC (United States Auto Club), Sprint Car Series (Midwest) and the ARCA Racing Series (Nationwide). The last owner of the speedway, Ed Kennedy, closed down Sportsdrome Speedway on August 23rd, 2016, due to rising costs and low revenues brought about by a lengthy civil lawsuit over unpaid life insurance premiums for employees and drivers injured at the track, which affected his cash flow. On September 4th, 2016, the new owners announced that they would reopen Sportsdrome Speedway, but it never happened. It is now abandoned.
